What is Season of Shadows About?

The setting is feudal-era Japan. An aspiring despot is stealing property and waging war in the lands to unify warring clans under his banner at any cost. His 'Eight Virtues' are the commanders he relies on to execute his plan. These once virtuous warriors are anything but honorable. They've abandoned the Bushido Code and become the very opposite of what they once stood for.

The story follows Hiraku, whose grandfather was mercilessly killed by two of the 'Virtues' because of a trivial offense. Hiraku sets out to eliminate the 'Virtues' but he has no plan on how he will do it. His simple plan to eliminate the 'Virtues' becomes bigger than a vengeance quest as he meets creatures of myth, citizen rebels and the Shadow Ninjas.
